Jasudavicius Takes Blanchfield's Shot — The Claim Is Hers Now
Fifteen minutes of grappling dominance flipped the flyweight script in Edmonton — the next title shot now runs through Jasmine Jasudavicius.
The script said Erin Blanchfield would leave Edmonton holding the next title shot. Jasmine Jasudavicius spent fifteen minutes rewriting it — mostly from top position.
This was not a robbery or a coin-flip. Jasudavicius landed four of her six takedowns; Blanchfield landed none. The control time tells the whole fight in two numbers: 6 minutes 52 seconds for Jasudavicius, 13 seconds for Blanchfield. She took the back in the first two rounds, banked them, and made Blanchfield chase a finish that never came.
Blanchfield's best work arrived in the third, when her combinations finally started landing in bunches. It was real, and it was late. All three judges scored it 29-28 for Jasudavicius — close on paper, clear in the cage.
So the flyweight story flips in one night. The claim that was supposed to be Blanchfield's — a shot at champion Natalia Silva — now belongs to the Canadian. The post-fight read was the same: Jasudavicius may have earned the next shot at 125 pounds.
And what a shot it would be. Silva beat Jasudavicius back in 2022, when both were climbing. Four years on, Jasudavicius arrives with a 16-4 record, a 10-3 UFC mark, and the biggest win of her career over the woman everyone had penciled in ahead of her.
Canada went two-for-two at the top of the Edmonton card. The flyweight line now forms behind the fighter who was never supposed to be standing there.
