Quillan Salkilld Gets the Home Headliner He Asked For Against Benoit Saint-Denis
“I think BSD is good because obviously his fight (with Pimblett) was not too long ago, and he didn't really take any damage from that one, so he's probably back in the gym ready to go”
Quillan Salkilld is coming home to headline.
The UFC has confirmed that Salkilld will face Benoit Saint-Denis in the main event of UFC Fight Night Sydney at Afterpay Arena. The date carried in the UFC announcement is February 6, 2027 — February 7 in Sydney local time.
It is the fight Salkilld asked for. After submitting Mateusz Gamrot in the first round in August, the Australian called for Saint-Denis, and now he gets him in front of his own crowd.
Salkilld, 26, arrives at 13-1 as a professional and a perfect 6-0 in the UFC. He has won all six of his UFC fights, and his last four have all ended in the first round. The Gamrot win was the biggest of that run: a first-round submission at UFC Vegas 120 in August.
"I think BSD is good because obviously his fight (with Pimblett) was not too long ago, and he didn't really take any damage from that one, so he's probably back in the gym ready to go," Salkilld said in August. "I'll say that because that seems like a more sure thing that could happen. I'm down."
His 2026 run also includes wins over Jamie Mullarkey and Beneil Dariush, and the Sydney booking puts him in a five-round main event against one of the lightweight division's most dangerous finishers.
Saint-Denis, 30, is exactly that. The Frenchman is 17-4 with one no-contest, and all 17 of his wins have come by finish. He comes to Sydney looking to rebound: his four-fight win streak was snapped in July, when Paddy Pimblett submitted him in the first round at UFC 329.
That sets the shape of the night. Salkilld is the rising home favourite on a six-fight UFC winning run; Saint-Denis is the proven finisher trying to get back to winning ways. No other bouts for the Sydney card have been announced yet, with more fights expected to follow.
Salkilld asked for this fight after Gamrot. In February, in Sydney, he gets it at home.
