“Joshua Van’s got to be one of my favorite guys to watch right now. He’s going to go down as the greatest flyweight of all time. He’s going to go down as possibly one of the best fighters, pound-for-pound, of all time.”
“He’s going to go down as the greatest flyweight of all time.”
Sean O’Malley doesn’t stamp just anybody’s passport. But after Joshua Van beat Alexandre Pantoja for the second time at UFC 331 in Los Angeles, the former bantamweight king is all the way in.
And Suga isn’t the only one saying the quiet part out loud. Jorge Masvidal thinks Van might be ONE win away from passing Demetrious Johnson as the flyweight GOAT — resumes be damned.
Let that sink in. Van is 24 years old, 18-2, with title wins over Tatsuro Taira and Pantoja back-to-back. And the all-time list is already getting redrawn.
The next test looks like Manel Kape, and O’Malley likes the champ’s chances: “It’s going to be hard to beat Van because his boxing is so slick.”
You love to see it — a 24-year-old champion carrying his division and the GOAT debate on the same shoulders.
Is Joshua Van the flyweight GOAT already, or does the Kape fight have to happen first?
