*Moicano won't appeal the Nolan loss — but tells referee Miragliotta to "go fck himself"**
“I want him to go f*ck himself, him and everyone else”
Renato Moicano (21-8-1) will not appeal his loss to Tom Nolan. But he has not forgiven the referee whose second-round stand-up, in his view, took the fight away from him.
Moicano lost the UFC Vegas 123 main event to Nolan by technical knockout at 1:28 of the third round on Saturday at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. He had controlled much of the opening two rounds with his grappling and held Nolan's back in the second round when referee Dan Miragliotta ordered the fighters to their feet. Nolan hurt Moicano late in the round and kept the striking advantage in the third before finishing the fight on the ground.
Moicano told MMA Fighting the stand-up caught him by surprise. He does not remember Miragliotta giving him a warning to increase his activity, and he said his frustration at the call cost him his focus.
"I was a little frustrated with the referee standing the fight up," Moicano said. "I was a little frustrated, but frustration is a bad thing… It caught me by surprise when he said, 'Stand up.' I don't remember him giving me any warnings… I have never heard of anyone being stood up from mount or from someone's back… But I clearly lost focus, I was clearly frustrated, and I got caught with some shots afterward."
There will be no appeal. Moicano said he will not file one with the Nevada Athletic Commission, and he will not file any complaint against Miragliotta.
"I want him to go fck himself, him and everyone else," Moicano said. "I don't give a sht. The next person I need to blame is myself. I should have finished that guy. That's the truth. I'm better than that guy, but he defended well… I'm not going to blame the referee… I'm not going to file any complaint."
The loss is Moicano's third in his last four bouts. Nolan, now 12-1, has won six straight since his lone professional defeat in his UFC debut in 2024.
