YANEZ HOSPITALIZED, PULLED FROM UFC 334 AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

“Really wanted to fight at MSG, the history there and I wanted to be a part of it. I'll be back soon though, Lord willing.”

— Adrian Yanez

An undisclosed medical issue put Adrian Yanez in the hospital and killed his November 14 fight with Juan Diaz — months after the Garbrandt knockout restarted his career.

Adrian Yanez will not be fighting at Madison Square Garden.

The bantamweight has been pulled from his UFC 334 bout against Juan Diaz on November 14 in New York after an undisclosed medical issue put him in the hospital. Yanez confirmed the withdrawal himself on social media Monday, posting from his hospital bed.

He did not specify the medical issue — but he kept his sense of humor about it.

"Starting the week off strong," the 32-year-old wrote. "Humor is my way of coping. Really wanted to fight at MSG, the history there and I wanted to be a part of it. I'll be back soon though, Lord willing."

The timing is brutal. Yanez (18-6-1) had just rebuilt his momentum in July, knocking out former champion Cody Garbrandt in the first round at UFC 329 to snap a two-fight losing streak. A win at the Garden — on one of the strongest cards of the year — was his road back toward the bantamweight Top 15, a climb that has been stop-and-start since 2022, where he has gone 2-3-1.

And this is not his first fight with his own body. An undisclosed health issue that followed his 2024 loss to Daniel Marcos kept Yanez out for essentially all of 2025. He finally returned this March, fought Ricky Simon to a controversial majority draw many scored for him, then made his real statement against Garbrandt. Whether this latest hospital stay connects to that history is not known — Yanez has not said, and nobody should guess.

Instead, the comeback goes on hold again, with no timeline for his return beyond his own promise to be back soon.

There is no word yet on whether Diaz will remain on the UFC 334 card against a replacement opponent. The November 14 event at Madison Square Garden is headlined by Ciryl Gane vs. Josh Hokit and Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes.

For now, the only fight Yanez has is the one he didn't choose. Everyone at Veshap wishes him a fast recovery.
